Message from Professor

　Welcome to Orthopaedic Surgery of Hirosaki University Graduate School of Medicine.
　Hirosaki University Graduate School of Medicine and School of Medicine have approximately 70 years of history since the establishment as Aomori Medical School in 1944. While keeping the tradition established by seniors, we will further develop clinical work and research and contribute to regional medical treatment.
　Orthopaedic Surgery has five specialized medical treatment groups. The spinal surgery group mainly treats difficult cases such as spinal cord tumor and scoliosis. The joint surgery group carries out joint replacement surgery, various types of osteotomy, and treatment of childhood diseases. The hand surgery group performs functional reconstruction based on microsurgery technique as well as hand disorders and trauma. The sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery group carries out treatments focusing on arthroscopic surgery and is working on field work for sports injury prevention. The musculoskeletal oncology group carries out surgery for bone and soft tissue tumors in addition to chemotherapy.
　Education, research, and medical treatment are mentioned as roles of university hospitals. In order to contribute to the development of science, we would like to continue to make efforts to promote basic research and clinical research and to provide better medical treatment.
